My Samsung Galaxy phone not charging and how I fixed it

I have been using Samsung Galaxy F62 for 2 years now without any problem until recently when I would plug the charger in to my phone, it would show all the signs of phone getting charged and after 20-30 seconds it just stops charging. The phone automatically stops showing any signs of charging.

This happened once earlier as well but at that time, it worked fine on its own  after few reattempts. I assumed that it was a minor glitch and the problem is solved but that was not the end of it.

Soon, the problem resumed and I started trying all the different mechanisms suggested on internet to fix this problem. I tried -

  • using different charging adapters in case the charger was faulty
  • using different charging cables in case the cable was broken 
  • tried cleaning my charging port in case the port had some dirt
  • running charging diagnostics/troubleshooting in my phone which detected nothing

Finally, my phone battery drained completely and I had no other option than to visit a near by mobile technician. 

The technician told me that the issue is with the phone's charging plate. It is malfunctioning and it needs to be replaced. The technician had a new original Samsung charging plate available (I believed him as I had no other option) and he replaced the faulty one with it in less than 30 minutes. And that fixed the problem. The phone was back to normal charging without any issues. It cost me 300 INR (equivalent to 4-5 USD) but I was happy that my phone was finally fixed without being left over for couple of days at a service center.     The same issue is occurring with my phone time to time. After plugging in, it would charge for a few seconds and stop charging entirely and I would have to remove the charging cable and reconnect it to the phone to work. It could be due to the cable, dust in the charging port or who knows even due to the charging plate! Thanks for sharing!

Export Sitecore media library files to zip using SPE

If you ever require to export Sitecore media files to zip (may be to optimize them), SPE (Sitecore Powershell Extension) has probably the easiest way to do this for you. It's as easy as the below 3 steps -  1. Right click on your folder (icons folder in snap)>Click on Scripts> Click on Download 2. SPE will start zipping all the media files placed within this folder. 3. Once zipping is done, you will see the Download option in the next screen. Make Sitecore instance faster using Roslyn Compiler

When we install the Sitecore instance on local, the first load is slow. After each code deploy also, it takes a while for the Sitecore instance to load and experience editor to come up. For us, the load time for Sitecore instance on local machines was around 4 minutes. We started looking for ways to minimize it and found that if we update our Web.config to use Roslyn compiler and include the relevant Nugets into the project, our load times will improve. Experience of a first time Sitecore MVP
